A downloadable game for Windows

About Formica

Mason is an average 19 year old, with a dead end job, an overbearing boss, and a creepy landlord. This certainly isn't the life he'd have chosen if he knew he'd end up here. But one day, after investigating a strange noise in his attic, he suddenly awoke in another world altogether! Transformed into an ant, he must join Juno, the ant princess on a quest to discover who is behind her mother's disappearance and the unrest happening within her kingdom. All while Mason grapples with the struggles of bug life, and hoping he can return home soon... but what does he really want?

About Me

Hello! This is Kyrio. If you're unfamiliar with the term, I'm what's known as a TF artist in the furry community. (Meaning, I enjoy drawing people turning into other things :V) This is a project that I've been working on off and on for about six months now. (Mostly just posting animations I've done of Mason doing various actions on twitter). But as an excuse to learn Godot, I've begun to piece together what seems like the makings of an actual game! And in honor of the TF Game Jam, I decided to build a full-ish level to explore! But there's certainly a long way to go (this prototype doesn't even have combat in it...or any sound...)

I'd love to hear what you guys think. And if you have advice or skills that I lack, I'd love to chat with you about it!

EDIT 11/27/24:

v 0.0.061

- Hotfixed the weird issue making you face to the side when rubbing up against a wall

- Hotfixed the bonk animation to be a little faster. looks jank though so will probably have to reanimate it.

- Also removed the donation prompt :V didn't mean to leave it up tbh.

v 0.0.062

- Fixed the button layout display to be more clear

- Buttons should now display correctly depending on type of controller connected

- Secondary action button now has a label for when it's context is relevant

- Fixed some quirkiness when trying to perform interactions while running forward resulting in a run or jump instead.

- Added the ability to quit the game from the pause screen

EDIT 11/28/24:

- Attempted to reduce the chance of the game being falsely detected as a virus

EDIT 11/30/24:

v 0.0.065

- Rebuilt the camera system

- Added camera controls to L1/R1

- Added Mouse+Keyboard Support

- Currently no mouse sensitivity settings. Sorry.

- Changed some animation timing, including walking through doors

- Added a dungeon intro cutscene!

- This will be the final update for a while, most likely! Hope you enjoy :)

I got stuck in a walking animation after opening the locked door and after the cutscene played. I liked how the four arms are used differently.

These keyboard controls need some SERIOUS work. The way the character instantly snaps to a new direction when you turn looks very bad.

Also, you shouldn't use WASD and the mouse buttons if the mouse itself will not be used. My personal recommendation would be arrow keys for movement, Z for action, X for cancel, C for focus, and A and S for camera. A way to remap keys and/or mouselook would likely be the best solution, though.

Thanks for the input! Yeah the keyboard controls were kind of thrown together as a last minute request. The next iteration of this project will definitely have mappable controls.

I'm so impressed by this! The quality of the animations and character model and interface really surprised me. Great movement too. Love Juno's design as well. Bravo!

I really enjoy your art and its exciting to see you learning to make a game. I fully support this!

Appreciate it :)

It's a common false positive with Godot. I've hopefully fixed it? Let me know if it's still a problem.

Too bad controller must required...

Mouse and keyboard support added! Sorry if it's not good.

It's looking amazing. :)

Thank you!
